reiki

Reiki information sourced from Usui Centre Camberwell Vic.

Reiki is Universal Life Energy. Reiki, (pronounced “ray key”), is actually two Japanese words: “Rei” means universal life and “ki” means energy. Ki is the same as “Chi” in Chinese, “Prana” in Sanskrit and “Mana” in Hawaiian. When activated, Reiki addresses body, mind and spirit by accelerating one’s ability to heal one’s self. The body is reminded of its ability to heal physical ailments, the mind opened to the causes of disease, and the spirit to the opportunity of taking responsibility for one’s life and the joys of balanced wellness.
This hands-on healing modality is an ancient art now being revived around the world. Energy channeling through the hands was rediscovered by a Christian scholar, Dr. Mikao Usui, in Japan in the late 19th century after many years of researching the healing ministries of great healers, including Jesus and the Buddha. Reiki (literal translation – soul power), as laid down by Dr. Usui, has a simple set of procedures to follow. These procedures were passed down to each of the Reiki Masters who follow his teachings, together with a simple set of Reiki ideals. Historically, the teaching of this oral tradition is passed on from Reiki Master to student during Reiki training.

Reiki has Two Delivery Methods Reiki Level I
Reiki I is the hands-on method, which is experienced as a powerful yet unobtrusive flow of healing energy. The client usually experiences the warmth (sometimes coolness) of the energy emanating from the practitioner’s hands, in varying degrees. Most people experience a sense of calmness and a decrease in their stress level as a result of a Reiki session. It is common for clients to fall asleep during their session and when they awaken they often feel calm and serene. Receiving Reiki is undoubtedly the best way to understand this natural flow of healing energy.
Reiki practitioners are not using “their” energy, per se, but are via Reiki tapping into the unlimited universal supply and therefore cannot become depleted or run down. The channeling of Reiki energy is of genuine benefit to the practitioner in addition to the recipient, because as they are giving, they are also receiving.
Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, and therefore cannot be directed or manipulated in any way. Reiki by-passes the symptom and goes to the cause of the problem to allow healing to take place. Reiki works on the assumption that each of us knows more about what is necessary for our healing than anybody else. It works with that innate ‘knowing’ part of ourselves that has created, caused or participated in the problem and therefore knows the antidote. Thus, Reiki is complementary to any other form of healing.
Reiki Level II
Reiki Level II is the second method and is also known as Absent Healing. Reiki Level II is a journey of the healing/compassionate heart. It is the ability to heal at a distance with the permission of the client. To touch, hold, feel and write down the responses to this amazing healing modality. Beyond logic and reason, Reiki Level II will astound and amaze as your natural healing talent becomes manifest.

Reiki Energy is Not Mind Power Reiki teaching varies around the world. In searching out a teacher, as in any other field, ask lots of questions. Reiki is an ancient tradition, so investigate the lineage of the teacher. Generally, the more direct the line goes back to Dr. Usui, the less cluttered and diffused the teaching will be.

Massage helps insomnia

Insomnia can impact our wellbeing and the quality of our lives. The frustration of not being to be able to get a good night’s sleep can make the situation even worse.

Insomnia can have many different causes: stress, anxiety, fear of insomnia, physical illness, pain, working unusual schedules, too much caffeine. Its symptoms vary depending on the person but it can go from simply being tired to tension headaches, drowsiness, irritability and it can even lead to more anxiety.

The role of aromatherapy While a life style change is often needed to cure insomnia, aromatherapy and massage can help you go to sleep faster and stay asleep longer. It can also help you sustain that change.

The calming, soothing, balancing and anxiety-reducing benefits of essential oils make aromatherapy very effective for treating insomnia. Essential oils like lavender or roman chamomile are the most common oils used for relieving insomnia. You can simply add a drop or two of these essential oils on your pillow or use them in an essential oil diffuser in your bedroom.

Follow your nose Whilst these oils are recommended it is also important to ‘follow your nose’ and  you may have a selection of oils that you can choose from depending on what you feel.

Combining it with massage, aromatherapy can be even more efficient. Massage has long been known to enhance relaxation and improve sleep patterns.  One of the most important brain chemicals our brain produces to make us sleep is serotonin. When we suffer from insomnia most of time it is because our body is lacking that precious hormone. Massage has been proven to have a positive action on the nervous system and helps the brain to produce serotonin. Therefore in addition to relieving tension headaches and relaxing your muscles massage will restore your hormonal balance and it will help you sleep.

Furthermore, while massage alone is an effective method for relaxation, studies suggest that massage with essential oils, may result in improved sleep quality, more stable mood, increased mental capacity and reduced anxiety.

Clinical studies have found participants who received massage with lavender felt less anxious and more positive than participants who received massage alone.

Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life and safety.

So if you think you are not getting enough sleep or if you suffer from insomnia don’t wait until it is to late, try using essential oils in your bedroom and combine it with a regular aromatherapy massage, it will help you get that good nights sleep your body and mind need.

Simple steps To consider

The 7 Steps to Life and Health from Air to Passion By Andrew Warnes with a little help from Don Tolman
Here are the steps........

  1. Air:
Breath, and when you sleep always have a window open. Switch off air conditioners when you sleep, they dry the air which also dehydrates you. If you have a ceiling fan, great. Fans are a way of ionising the air.
  2. Water:
Simple H2o. Obesity is frequently linked to dehydration, as are many chronic diseases. Drink 2 litres per day.
  3. Sunshine: ( Try a natural non chemical based if your not comfortable with this)
Don't use sunscreen, it has chemicals in it, not good for you. Think about the long-term use of chemicals you put on your skin because your skin absorbs those chemicals, leaving you liver to deal with the residues.
Hit your visual cortex by being outside in the light as much as possible. When you go for an early morning walk, leave your sunglasses at home; allow yourself to wake up. Sunshine is the natural way to wake up.
  4. Walking:
At least 45-60 mins per day total. NOT on a treadmill! Walking or any other activity is great for moving food and other fluids through your system. What you're trying to do is exercise your peristaltic system in your bowel and kidneys. Walking is also a great tension easer, it's good for your emotions, allows you to 'vent' emotions in a natural way.
  5. Whole Food:
Eat plain whole food, keep processed food to a minimum. That includes root vegetables (carrots, beetroot, potatoes etc) and other leafy vegetables. Eat fruit, but not too much, don't 'fill up' on fruit.
  6. Relationships:
Be kind to everyone, no toxic relationships. Love, hug, smile, talk; have a glass of wine, coffee or beer with a friend. Try to think and act 'above-the-line' which means be empowered, proactive, results oriented, take responsibility for your life and have gratitude, joy, happiness and faith.
  7. Passion:
Get passionate about something. Art, music anything. Sing to the radio, go a little crazy, laugh, take up a passionate hobby. Go find your passion if it was once there and has escaped......
And it gets better......and easier......

You can mix all this stuff up. Go for a walk in the sunshine, with a bottle of water, breathing air, being nice to people along the way.

It's crazy easy.
